Over Two Decades of Excellence
What Made Me Become a Behavioral Counselor?
My journey in youth counseling began at just 21 years old, working with troubled boys in group homes. Wanting to understand how early behaviors evolve into life-altering decisions, I pursued a deeper path—becoming one of the youngest Behavioral Modification Counselors in the California Department of Corrections at age 25, serving at the California Rehabilitation Center (CRC).
Beyond my regular caseload, I took on additional leadership roles, developing a men’s parenting program and launching a music program inside the prison—using creativity and connection as tools for rehabilitation and hope.
I later continued my work at Ironwood State Prison, where I counseled individuals convicted of serious and violent offenses. During this time, I founded Mutivation Youth Services at age 26, with a mission to reach at-risk youth before they reached the criminal justice system. My purpose was—and still is—to empower young people to rise above their circumstances and believe in greater possibilities.
More than twenty years later, my passion has only grown stronger. I remain committed to the race of reaching every child I can and sharing the message:
Dream it.
Wish it.
Do it.
